Michigan State Record Muskie Torch Lake

You're looking at the new Michigan state record muskie, this fish is absolutely amazingly huge. The fish weighs 50 pounds 8 ounces, beating the old Michigan state record by 2 1/2 pounds. The record size muskie was caught out of Torch Lake, right near Traverse City. Kyle Anderson was the lucky fisherman who landed this monster!

The record muskie measured in at 55 inches long. It's not a surprise to me that Torch Lake is known to hold record size musky, the lake is 18 miles long and in certain places the lake goes 300 feet deep. The lake was carved by glaciers in the last Ice Age.

The lure Kyle Anderson used was a custom crankbait. It's no luck that Anderson caught the huge record muskie, he's logged in 4,500 hours and 25,000 miles on his boat, now that's a real muskie fishing. Man that fish is huge, Anderson said it was really tough taking the fishing rod out of the holster when the fish was caught. I can't imagine what it was like to reel in a fish like that, it takes strong muscles and skill!
