Smallmouth Bass Fishing Kent Lake

Kent Lake in Milford Michigan is said to produce some really nice size smallmouth bass. This past year I fished the lake, I'm here to tell you that the smallmouth bass population has significantly decreased. I'm not sure why, but it is true. Back in the 90s, the smallmouth bass population at Kent Lake was 70% and 30% largemouth bass. Now it's pretty much the other way around, you're more like to catch largemouth bass at Kent Lake.

That's not to say you won't catch any smallmouth bass at the lake. There's still quite a few, but I'm telling you that you won't catch as many compared to Lake Orion or Lake St. Clair. Kent Lake is now a largemouth bass lake, also has a lot of bluegill fish too.

Occasionally you'll catch a few walleye at Kent Lake, but not much in the summer. The prime time to fish for smallmouth bass and walleye are in the spring time at Kent Lake.
